Putin: Acts of IT firms, foreign Web platforms challenge Russia

MOSCOW, Feb 17 (PRIME) -- Actions of IT companies and foreign Internet platforms is a serious challenge for Russia, President Vladimir Putin told the heads of political parties of the State Duma, the parliament’s lower house, on Wednesday.

“What you’ve said about the so-called platforms, IT companies is a serious challenge not only for us, we saw what happed in the U.S. It is such a watershed that is going on in the world in general. It is an ideological watershed. It’s an evident thing,” Putin said.

“I’ve said already and can only repeat – if they behave like that in their own country how they will treat the others if they think they are exceptional. It’s a serious matter. And we certainly should think about it in advance. It’s an evident thing.”
